We are the Florida Keys Chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management (also known as Florida Keys SHRM, or, simply, FLKSHRM).  We are an affiliate of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), a national, professional organization.

Dr. James ‘Jimmy’ Crook, DBA, PHR, Lt. Col., USA Retired

Jimmy is a human resources professional who served in the Army on active duty for over 25 years. After a successful transition from the military, he now works for Spectra Management, specializing in international, remote talent placement within US-based businesses, and serves as the Vice President for Strategic Partnerships.

Jimmy is a certified Professional in Human Resources (PHR) and holds a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) from the Florida Institute of Technology, Bisk School of Business, where he studied the employment transition of combat Veterans and their enhanced levels of knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs). Jimmy served multiple overseas and stateside assignments with the majority of his military career spent at Fort Bragg (now Fort Liberty) North Carolina, home of the airborne and special operations forces. He has deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan multiple times in support of the Global War on Terrorism. His experience derives from three unique pillars of the Department of Defense, Congress, and higher education. His most notable assignments were Legislative Assistant to the Secretary of the Army, Defense Fellow to a Member of Congress, Human Resources Manager in the 82d Airborne Division, Aide de Camp for a General Officer in NATO, Professor of Military Science at a civilian university, and Director of Human Resources within the Army’s most elite special operations unit. 

Jimmy and his family have planted roots in Florida, where he is a lifetime member of the local VFW, a member of the Space Coast MOAA chapter, and a Board Member of the Space Coast Human Resources Association. He is a youth mentor and an active member of the community.
